These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Poser8 LLC ("we," "us") and govern your use of the The Hidden Library mobile application (the "App") and the related website at thehiddenlibrary.app. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. The service
The App provides a curated reading interface for public-domain editions of esoteric, philosophical, and sacred texts. It also offers an optional AI-assisted "Decode" feature that generates plain-English, alchemical, esoteric, and practical-application commentary on passages you select.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EEA / UK) to create an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for activity under your account.
- One account per person. Don't impersonate anyone or provide false information.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
3. Subscriptions and payments
- The App offers a free tier and a premium subscription. The premium subscription unlocks the full Decode feature and any other premium content disclosed at the point of purchase.
- Subscriptions are billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), not by us. The platform's terms govern the transaction, including price, currency, taxes, refunds, and renewal.
- Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal. Manage or cancel your subscription in your platform account settings, not through us.
- Refunds, when applicable, are issued by the platform. We have no ability to issue refunds directly.
- Free trials, introductory offers, and promotional pricing terms (if any) are presented at purchase and bound by the platform's policies.
4. Acceptable use
When using the App you agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, model weights, or non-public assets, except where law permits.
- Scrape, mirror, or systematically download the catalog or AI outputs in bulk.
- Use the App to generate content that is illegal, that infringes someone else's rights, or that violates third-party terms (including those of our AI provider).
- Submit prompts intended to extract personal data, malware, or instructions for real-world harm.
- Interfere with the App, our servers, or other users.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercialize access to the App or its outputs.
5. AI Decode — how to read it
The Decode feature uses a third-party large language model. Its output is generated commentary, not authoritative interpretation, religious counsel, medical advice, legal advice, financial advice, or psychiatric guidance. It can be wrong, incomplete, or contradict itself. Treat it as a study aid, not a source of truth.
Do not rely on it for any decision with material consequences for your health, safety, finances, legal status, or relationships. We disclaim all responsibility for actions taken in reliance on AI output.
6. Content you create
Bookmarks, notes, and saved decodes you create remain yours. By storing them with us, you grant us a limited license to host, sync, and display them back to you on your devices, solely to operate the service.
7. The texts
The texts in the catalog are works in the public domain in the United States. We've selected editions and translations we believe to be in the public domain at time of inclusion. If you believe a text in the catalog infringes a copyright you own or control, contact us at legal@thehiddenlibrary.app with a description of the work and the basis for your claim, and we will investigate and, where appropriate, remove the work.
8. Our intellectual property
The App's name, design, code, curation, and AI prompt engineering are owned by Poser8 LLC and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for its intended purpose. Nothing else is licensed.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that the App or the AI Decode feature will meet your expectations or that any particular passage will be available at any particular time.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Poser8 LLC and its officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising out of or in connection with the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the App or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) US$50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, the limits above apply only to the maximum extent permitted.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Poser8 LLC from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the App, or your infringement of a third party's rights.
12. Termination
You can stop using the App at any time and delete your account from within the App (Profile → Delete Account). We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or if continued operation is no longer commercially viable. On termination, sections 6 through 14 survive.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms. The "Last updated" date will change, and material changes will be surfaced in the App on your next launch. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The exclusive venue for any dispute not subject to arbitration is the state or federal courts located in Salt Lake County, Utah, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose law guarantees you the right to bring a claim in your local courts or under your local consumer-protection laws, those rights are not waived by these Terms.
15. Apple App Store additional terms
If you obtained the App through the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply between you and us; Apple is not a party to these Terms but is a third-party beneficiary entitled to enforce them:
- These Terms are between you and Poser8 LLC, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
- Your license is limited to use on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support.
- If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Claims relating to the App's possession or use (including product-liability, failure to conform to legal requirements, and consumer-protection claims) are our responsibility, not Apple's.
- If a third party claims the App or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for handling that claim.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
